Piedmont Street, Boston, MA
Turnstone converted this raw industrial space
into loft-style townhouses with private garages. The project
began with a dilapidated concrete and brick building consisting of
a single midblock warehouse space. The thorough reconstruction included
the addition of a setback rooftop structure and the use of the original
loading bays as the basic modules for the townhouse units. The project
is located in an early 19th century historic district, and is within
one block of public transportation.
Boston Globe architectural critic
Robert Campbell, in a feature article in the Globe’s Home
section (3/4/99), called the design “ingenious” and the resulting product
“a dream of a town pad.” |
