Elm Street Cambridge, MA
Vacant and open to the elements, this structurally
compromised 19th century livery stable in “Area 6” (a Cambridge neighborhood
unfortunately named for its police precinct) was converted to residential
lofts. Alley access allowed the building to be sliced vertically
to maximize unit count while providing adequate daylight. The expansive
upper level loft boasts the original wood truss system and 25’ ceilings.
Landscaping and red brick pavers transformed the site from a derelict
corner to an urban oasis.
Projects by Dierdre Savage were completed during
her tenure as a partner in a Cambridge, MA design build development
group. |
